ROC EDUCATION CENTER
The ROC Education Center is a vision to provide
various educational opportunities not normally
available to Rwandan nationals. These
opportunities will include lectures,
conferences, workshops, training, and/or
lessons. This center utilizes volunteer
resources to share expertise and knowledge that
can be of much value to Rwanda. Sessions began
in February 2008.

KICS LIBRARY
With Rwanda poising herself as a leader in
central African technology, business, and
education, a library is needed to support the
people of Kigali. The Library will focus on the
needs of KICS students while seeking ways to
bless the surrounding community of English
speakers. In a nation with no public library ROC
is excited for this partnership with KICS.
KIGALI INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Education is a cornerstone of the Caise Sociale
Vision 2020 project. In September of 2006,
Kigali International Community School was
established as an educational option for foreign
and domestic families. KICS was begun in order
to meet a need for an education option for
missionary families and aid workers. Without an
education option like this Rwanda is a difficult
location for families with children to base
themselves and work. It is critical for Rwanda's
development efforts that an option like this
exists and local officials have encouraged it.
ROC Foundation hopes its efforts will enable
this school to have a good location to operate
and serve the nation of Rwanda.
After a year of meeting in a rented home with 45 students, KICS moved into the ROC facilities where it now has 95 K-12 students. While KICS is not a ROC specific project we recognize KICS as a valuable partner in blessing the nation of Rwanda through education and the use of these fabulous facilities. Our efforts with the Vision 2020 would not be complete without a partnership of this caliber in the area of education.
KICS offers a faith-based curriculum to children from multicultural backgrounds. KICS believes that education focused on faith and excellence will help Kigali continue developing into a community of peace, progress, justice, and faith. Children from missionary families, relief organization families, embassy families, and Rwandan families will create a meaningful community by learning together.
Rwanda/OC Presidential Scholars Program
Another valuable partnership is that of the
Rwanda / Oklahoma Christian University
Presidential Scholar Program. Since 2006 OC has
partnered with the Republic of Rwanda by
providing scholarships to 20 high school
graduates who have excelled in math, science
with good English skills. These distinguished
scholars were chosen through national exams and
interviews and are the top choices. Following
completion of their baccalaureate degrees from
OC these students will return to Rwanda to
participate in continued development of Rwanda.
A parallel "student adoption" program was
established, providing each student with a
stateside "home away from home."
Peace Through Business
The
Academy of
Leadership and Liberty, The Institute for
Economic Empowerment of Women, and
Oklahoma
Christian University (OC) are partnering with ROC to
select 15 business women for in depth business
training on the OC campus. Following their
training they will return to Rwanda where they
will utilize what they learned. Additionally,
they will be asked to do training for the women
who were not selected at the ROC facilities so
that what is learned is shared and used to bless
many more.
