In 1994 the world sat silent as the people in the Republic of Rwanda suffered one of the most tragic events in human history as nearly one-million people were killed in 100 days of genocide. In spite of such a dark period in history, the people and leadership of Rwanda are overcoming poverty, rebuilding their lives and healing the country. Rapid progress and stability are returning to the hills of Rwanda.
Under the leadership of His Excellency,
President Paul Kagame,
the Rwandan people are looking forward with
Vision 2020. This forward thinking initiative is
intended to develop a nation of middle class
entrepreneurs. This effort is intended to break
the cycles of dependence that have characterized
the last 50 years of development in Africa.
Rwanda hopes to become a regional hub for trade
and information technology with education and
community development leading the way.
The Rwanda Outreach & Community Foundation (ROC)
is partnering with the nation of
Rwanda in its Vision
2020 (Sec. 4.2) by investing in people and
property. ROC is actively raising funds to
purchase a hall (church), school, and community
center built as part of Vision 2020. Despite
atrocities in the past, the people and
leadership of Rwanda are overcoming poverty,
rebuilding their lives and healing the country.
Rapid progress and stability are returning to
the hills of Rwanda.
